Thank you to the coaches, players, and families for getting the Girls and Boys golf seasons off to a good start in this very different year! We are grateful that the kids are able to get out and play in this environment of lockdowns and social distancing.
As we were not able to hold our annual “Big Dog Classic” fundraising golf tournament in the fall due to COVID, we are raising funds online this year. This is our ONLY fundraiser for the 2020-2021 season so please participate! Please donate what you can and please forward this email to grandparents, aunts/uncles, neighbors, and anyone else who wants to help support Golf at Point Loma High School.
To give you some background, most of the Golf team expenses are paid for with funds raised by the Golf Booster (comprised of parents and interested community members). The school district pays for the Head Coach and not much else. The Booster pays for all other expenses, including greens fees, city cards, JV coach, range balls, tournaments, uniforms, golf bags, end of season banquet for the players, and more. In a normal year, the cost per golf player to run the program is around $600. To conserve funds so we are funded for next season, we are running a bare bones season this year with only essential golf expenses in the budget.
